Since its inception into the MOE Choral Excellence Programme in 2002 and also honoured with the Rotary Club Ambassador of the Arts Award, the Cedar Girls’ Choir has distinguished itself as a Gold award choir at the biennial SYF. In recent years, the choir has also obtained Certificates of Distinction in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
Under the baton of Choral Director, Ms Naomi Chye, the choir also brings honour to the nation by garnering overseas awards. In the local arena, the choir has been invited to perform at the National Gallery, The President’s Star Charity Show, The Esplanade Limelight series; The World Conference of the Bloomberg Awards Ceremony; The Singapore Embassy in Seoul as well as the official recording choir for NDP 2012. History was made in 2013 as the Voices as One choral ensemble emerged Top 3 in the Finals of the Sing A Nation Mediacorp TV contest leading to the NDP performance at Marina Bay.
To spread the joy of community singing in a fun and engaging way, our values in action initiatives involved teaching the Potong Pasir residents the cup song, the Cedar National Day Singathon as well as MusicFest @ The Singapore General Hospital, SG Rhapsodies @ The Sentosa and National Museum. All these platforms have enabled the choir, as singing ambassadors, to foster goodwill and partnership with our community.
